PREPARATION OF SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHERS IN FACING THE MERDEKA CURRICULUM IN GRADE VII OF SMPN 30 PADANG

Abstract

This research was motivated by the observations of researchers in the field that there was a change from the 2013 curriculum to an independent curriculum at SMP Negeri 30 Padang so that teachers needed to be prepared to implement the independent curriculum. This research is field research with a qualitative approach and a case study type through observation, interviews and documentation studies. Data sources or objects in this research are divided into two, namely primary sources and secondary sources. Other sources used as data sources in this research are teaching modules, diagnostic assessments, training certificates, and textbooks. The results of this research are 1) SMP Negeri 30 Padang has implemented the independent curriculum since 2021. 2) Teachers of SMP Negeri 30 Padang have participated in training regarding the independent curriculum in 2021. 3) Diagnostic assessments have been carried out at the beginning of the semester. 4) The Social Sciences teacher has implemented the Project Based Learning learning model on theme 3 regarding the economic potential of the environment. 5) The teacher has used media that is appropriate to the learning material. 6) The facilities and infrastructure of SMP Negeri 30 Padang are adequate.
