THE INFLUENCE OF PEER CONFORMITY ON STUDENTS' RELIGIUS

The writing of this thesis is motivated by the number of students who still follow their friends, be it behavior, speech style, appearance and others, making them conform to peers. This study aims to, (1) determine the peer conformity of class XI students at MAN 1 Padang, (2) determine the level of religiosity of class XI students at MAN 1 Padang, (3) see the influence of peer conformity on the religiosity of class XI students at MAN 1 Padang. This study used a quantitative method of correlational type with a sample of 72 students from a population of 245 students in class XI. The sampling technique was stratified random sampling. The data collection technique used is a questionnaire of peer conformity and student religiosity. Data analysis techniques in this study using simple linear regression analysis. It is known that the peer conformity of class XI students at MAN 1 Padang is in a fairly good category with an average of 84.67. And it is known that the religiosity of class XI students at MAN 1 Padang is in a fairly good category with an average of 114.32. The results showed that the calculation of the Fcount value was 7.882 with a significance level of 0.006 <0.05, which means that there is a significant effect in the regression. While the coefficient of determination is shown by R Square = 0.101, it is presented as 10.1%, which means that the religiosity of students is influenced by peer conformity by 10.1% while the remaining 89.9% is influenced by other factors.
