THE INFLUENCE OF “THE INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW STRATEGY” ON STUDENTS' LEARNING OUTCOMES IN SOCIAL SCIENCES SUBJECTS

This research was motivated by the lack of students' ability to understand the material taught by Social Sciences subject teachers. This is proven by the low value of students' knowledge in the daily assessments carried out by the Social Sciences subject teacher at each meeting. This research uses a quantitative type of research with a control class and experimental class research design. This research uses two classes, namely the control class and the experimental class. The design used is a Quasi-Experimental design. The population in this study were all students in class VII MTsN 2 Padang Pariaman for the 2023/2024 academic year, consisting of eight classes. The sampling technique uses random sampling. Based on the sampling technique, the control class was class VII.1 and the experimental class was class VII.2. The technique used to test the hypothesis uses the t-test. Paired sample t test with normally distributed data. Based on the classification of pre-test and post-test results for the control class and experimental class, the average post-test score for the experimental class was higher than the control post-test score. The average test result for the experimental class was 82.73 and the average score for the control class was 70.73. After testing the hypothesis with the t-test, it was obtained that significant α in two positions (2-tailed) was = 0.000, meaning that 0.000 < 0.05. So Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected, meaning that there is a significant difference in the learning outcomes of the class that uses the inquiring minds want to know strategy compared to the class that does not use the expository learning strategy in the social studies subject class VII MTsN 2 Padang Pariaman.
