THE INFLUENCE OF THE GUIDED INQUIRY LEARNING MODEL ON IMPROVING LEARNING OUTCOMES FOR 8TH GRADE STUDENTS IN SOCIAL STUDIES AT SMPN 5 BATANG HARI

This research was motivated by the problem of the lack of use of varied learning models in the teaching and learning process, the low learning outcomes of students in social studies subjects in class VIII SMPN 5 Batang Hari. This research aims to find out whether the Guided Inquiry learning model has an effect on improving the learning outcomes of class VIII students at SMPN 5 Batang Hari. This type of research uses a pre-experimental method, namely research consisting of one single group. The sample in this research was class VIII.1 students consisting of 26 people from the experimental class. The instrument used for data collection is in the form of test questions (pretest and posttest). The results (pretest and posttest) were analyzed using Microsoft Office Excel. From the results of research in the experimental class, pretest and posttest data were obtained, tcount = 11.9795; while ttable at a real level of 0.05 and dk=25, the value obtained is ttable=1.7081 so it can be seen that tcount>ttable so it can be concluded that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, namely that there is a significant influence on social studies learning outcomes using the guided inquiry learning model. The results of this research show that there is an effect of using the Guided Inquiry Learning Model which can be a method or solution that can be used to improve social studies learning outcomes for class VIII SMPN 5 Batang Hari.
