THE EFFECT OF CONTEXTUAL TEACHING AND LEARNING APPROACH TOWARD THE STUDENTS' SOCIAL COHESION

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the contextual approach, to improve the students' social cohesion in Islamic Education class. at the Senior Vocational School 5 Padang. This research used quantitative approach with quasi-experimental method. The population of this research was class XI students at the Senior Vocational School 5 Padang City, 1 class as the research sample (XIB), used 28 students as the sample. The data collections process were done by using random sampling technique. Data analysis was carried out by using the Wilcoxon signed ranks test. The results of the research shows that there were significant differences in the experimental class before and after being given treatment using a contextual teaching and learning approach. The research results shows that the probability number Asymp. Sig (2-Tailed) social cohesion of the experimental group is 0.000 or the probability below 0.05. From the results of this research it can be concluded that H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. Contextual Teaching and Learning is recommended to use by the Islam religious teacher at school.
