APPLICATION OF RECIPROCAL TEACHING LEARNING MODEL IN IMPROVING STUDENTS' MATHEMATICAL PROBLEM SOLVING ABILITY

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low mathematical problem solving ability of students in class VIII SMP N 1 Kota Pariaman, most of whom have not reached the KKM (Minimum Completeness Criteria) set by the school, namely 75. One way that can be done to overcome this is to apply the reciprocal teaching learning model. This type of research is a quasi-experimental research. The population in this study were all students of class VIII SMP N 1 Kota Pariaman which amounted to 154 people. Sampling was done using random sampling. In this study the sample consisted of two classes, namely class VIII2 as the experimental class and class VIII2 as the control class. The results showed that the mathematical problem solving ability of students who follow learning with reciprocal teaching model is higher than the mathematical problem solving ability of students with expository learning model with the average learning outcomes of students on problem solving ability, namely the experimental class obtained a score of 71.05 while the control class obtained a score of 59.69.
