Abstract

Maharah Al-Kitabah one of important skills in Arabic language. Based on observations of kitabah material in Arabic textbooks for class VIII MTs, it was found that the development of students' writing skills wasn’t great. The material presented to simple vocabulary, while in developing writing skills can be through a thought process related to grammar, vocabulary, and language use itself. Therefore, this study describes the composition of maharah al-kitabah contained in Arabic textbooks for class VIII MTs, and its role in the development of language skills. The method used in this research is descriptive analysis method, through literature review using a book by Ibrahim Al-Fauzan entitled I'dad Mawad Ta'lim Al-Lughah Al- 'Arabiyah Lighairi An-Nathiqin Biha. The result of this study is that in general the kitabah material in Arabic textbooks for class VIII MTs is good enough to provide an introduction for students. However, to hone, train, and develop maharah al-kitabah, this book is still very minimal in terms of style and variants of question presentation.
