Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the motivation of parents to send their children to Madrasah Ibtidayah Negeri (MIN) in Padang City, West Sumatra. The subjects of this study were thirteen parents who sent their children to Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri (MIN) in Padang City, West Sumatra. This research was written using a qualitative method with the type of case study. Sources of data were taken through direct interviews with fifteen informants using a set of interview protocols. Informants are parents who send their children to Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MIN). All interviews were analyzed thematically using the Miles and Huberman technique. The results obtained through this study are that parents' views on Islamic-based schools are different, including Islamic-based schools according to parents as schools that can educate children's character that comes from Islamic religious values and schools with Islamic nuances starting from fashion. . The motivation of parents to send their children to MIN is because parents want their children to understand the principles of Islamic teachings and be able to apply them properly and correctly. The motivation of parents to send their children to MIN in terms of the school environment is quite high and enthusiastic because the school environment plays a very important role in improving children's mindsets and is one of the factors that influence children's growth and development. It is undeniable that in the education process, the quality of education is also supported by the facilities and infrastructure that become the standard of a school. With the completeness of these learning facilities, the learning process will run as it should to achieve the goals desired by the school.
