THE APPLICATION OF ISLAMIC-BASED MONOPOLY MEDIA TOWARDS STUDENTS' CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS IN THEMATIC LEARNING

This research was motivated by the low critical thinking abilities of students. When learning in class, students lack curiosity, are less responsive, less active in asking and answering questions from educators. This research aims to determine the increase in students' critical thinking skills through the application of Islamic-based monopoly media in thematic learning in class V elementary school. This type of research is experimental, with a quasi experimental one group pretest-posttest design. The population is all class V students at SDN 41 Lubuk Minturun, totaling 21 people. The data analysis technique uses the n-gain test. The research results show that the application of Islamic-based monopoly media can improve critical thinking skills in thematic learning. Before treatment the pretest average was 58.8429. Then after being given treatment the posttest average increased to 83.6762, from the results of the gain score test it was obtained that the pretest-posttest increase was 0.61 (0.3<g<0.7) in the medium category with a percentage of 61.06 which was quite effective. It can be concluded that the application of Islamic-based monopoly media can significantly improve students' critical thinking skills in class V thematic learning at SDN 41 Lubuk Minturun.
