COMPARISON OF THE MATHEMATICAL CRITICAL THINKING ABILITIES OF STUDENTS LEARNING USING THE M-APOS MODEL AND THE EXPOSITORY MODEL

Abstract

Comparing the mathematical critical thinking skills of students who learn through the M-APOS model and expository is the purpose of this research. This study is a pseudo-experiment with  a randomized control group only design. The population of this study is all students of grade VIII of SMPN 1 Padang Panjang City, class VIII E as an experimental class and class VIII D as a control class. The mathematical critical thinking ability test is a research instrument that is analyzed using a t-test. The results of the critical thinking test of the experimental class were 77.13 and the control class was 65.87. Test the hypothesis with a t-test, a 95%  confidence interval is obtained  a t-value of 2.808 and a t-table value of 1.67. It can be concluded that the mathematical critical thinking ability of students who learn using the M-APOS learning model is higher than the mathematical critical thinking ability of students who learn with expository learning in grade VIII of SMPN 1 Padang Panjang City.
