Abstract

This research is motivated by the low learning motivation of students in history subjects at MAN 1 West Pasaman because the learning models used by educators currently are not varied enough so that students experience boredom when studying. Therefore, a learning model is needed that can activate students' learning motivation, one of which is using the Talking Stick learning model. This learning model is more effective and can increase students' learning motivation. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of the Talking Stick learning model on students' learning motivation in history subjects in class XI IPS Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 West Pasaman. The type of research used in this research is quantitative using experimental methods. The type of experiment used in this research is Quasi Experimental and Static Group Comparison design using two classes, namely class XI IPS 1 and class XI IPS 2. The data collection technique in this research is in the form of a questionnaire. The population of this study was all students in class XI IPS at MAN 1 West Pasaman. The sampling technique used in this research was a saturated sampling technique (total sampling) so that the sample size was 60 students. The data analysis technique for this research is by using normality, homogeneity and hypothesis testing. The results of the research show that there is an influence using the talking stick learning model on the learning motivation of class XI IPS students at MAN 1 West Pasaman. This can be seen from the average post-questionnaire results in the experimental class which is 135.00, while the average post-questionnaire results in the control class is 99.80. In hypothesis testing, the sig (2 tailed) value was 0.000 < 0.05. So Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected, so it can be concluded that there is an influence of the talking stick learning model on students' learning motivation in the history subject of class XI IPS MAN 1 West Pasaman.
