EDUCATIONAL POLITICS IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF ISLAMIC EDUCATION IN INDONESIA

Islamic education is an activity carried out in a planned and systematic manner to develop the potential of students based on Islamic religious principles. Islamic education too deliver participant educate as figure Which able to master dynamics cultural, social, economy, politics, science and technology and morals. Thus, Islamic education should be directed to produce human resources who are ready to enter the era of globalization, the era of industrialization and the era of information. However, so far Islamic education has been considered second-class education, village education and backward. This has resulted in Islamic education being less popular. The question in this study is how the government can improve the quality of Islamic education. This paper aims to discuss government policies to improve the quality of Islamic education. This study uses a historical-pedagogical approach using the method historical research. There are four steps taken in this study. 1) Heuristics 2) Source criticism; 3) Analysis of itis; 4) Writing. This study found that many policies were implemented by the Indonesian Government to improve the quality of Islamic education such as government policies by issuing SKB 3 ministers in 1974, the emergence of special program madrasahs, the issuance of Law on the National Education System no. 20 of 2003, the birth of MAN Insan Cendekia and the Madrasah Penggerak Moderasi Beragama program. This study also found that the Ministry of Religion has implemented many policies related to Islamic education so that the quality of Islamic education has increased, but is still below the quality of general education. This finding has implications for the Ministry of Religion to innovate and create for the advancement of Islamic education.
